TRUSTEE APPOINTMENTS & HAWERA CINEMA
The Hawera Cinema complex is an independently operated cinema, operated by a trust on behalf of the South Taranaki community. The core purpose of the cinema is to provide quality entertainment for the South Taranaki community and visitors to the region based on movies. All those involved in the cinema strive to ensure that it is a community asset that all are proud to be associated with.
We would like to thank the Toi Foundation for their support
Trustee Appointments
From time-to-time Hawera Cinema 2 Trust seeks to appoint new Trustees.
Trustees play a governance role overseeing and working towards the best interests of the Cinema. The role is voluntary but important. The Cinema relies upon grants funding, and generally that requires there to be a responsible overseeing body. In our case the Trust.
Generally, the Trust meets on the 3rd Wednesday each month. The trust deed allows for a chairperson and up to 5 Trustees. Current Trustees are Judy Schroder (Chair), Geoff Furborough, Tony Milham, Adrienne Cudby, Aaron Foley and Mary Bourke. Cr Diana Reid attends our meeting representing the South Taranaki District Council which owns our building.
We employ a full-time Manager and other part-time staff – the number increases during school holidays.
The Trust was formed in 2007 for the purposes of retaining an operating cinema “so as to further the advancement of the interests in arts, cultural and education in the South Taranaki district”. While our building is owned by the South Taranaki District Council, the assets within the building are owned by the Trust. Our complex consists of 2 cinemas , a candy bar and a lounge bar. Both cinemas have premium lounge seating and conventional seating. Our lounge bar serves a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, snack sized meals and desserts. It is a great venue for musical and other events.
If you would like to join us as a Trustee contributing to the future well-being and sustainability of the cinema complex, then we would love to hear from you.
For more information, please contact our Chair -Judy Schroder (jude25@xtra.co.nz) or send her a registration of your interest and we will hold your details on file.
A copy of the Trust Deed is attached for your information.
We look forward to hearing from you!
